Since 2012, I have taken a road trip every summer with my kids. It started on a whim: randomly picked up and followed my aunt across a few states; just a van, some money for gas, and three kids under the age of 10. That was the summer I was bit by the travel bug, and I have dragged my kids along for the ride: sometimes kicking and screaming, sometimes with pure excitement, but always together. In 11 years we have been to 49 of the 50 states, 26 national parks, most capitol buildings, and an insane amount of gas stations. Hawaii is our final destination when my twins graduate in 2025.
I got the bright idea one summer to blog our adventures, and I tried to keep to that every summer. In 2015 we skipped a big trip and did the "Summer of Lakes", and in 2020, well...covid pushed us back a year, although we did visit a few states that summer. These are some of our highlights:
